Genting Trip [ Oct '08 ]

Pipit, Faizah, Jaz & I had planned to go Genting a few months before but we only managed to find the time to purchase our tickets in September. So one fine night, the four of us went to survey at the stretch. After some time, we settled on a package from Transtar. We didn’t purchase our tickets then but Pipit & I came down again with my other 2 friends to get the tickets a few days later. So I told them what I wanted, blah, blah, blah… she passed me the tix, sealed and all…. and everybody left happily..

On 23rd September night, Jaz called me and told me that the Transtar staff called Nad and asked her why we weren’t there to board the bus.. I was appalled listening to what he was saying. I immediately opened up the sealed envelope and took out the receipts. *GASP!* The date was indeed 23rd September instead of the 23rd October I had requested… Jaz immediately called the Transtar staff back, spoke to our salesperson and the supervisor & told them about our situation, the misunderstanding & whether we could change our dtaes to the correct dates.. That was totally my mistake. I have NEVER been so careless and it was unlike me not to check things. Well, there was a lot of things happening on that day.. The people were rushing us & the person was liaising with Nad, not me.. Sheeez!

After talking and discussing for quite some time, we decided to come and visit them again. Upon reaching there, we decided that there was no point arguing as we were at the losing end and that the only way is to seek their help. So upon reaching there, we spoke to the supervisor & we managed to settle things. We managed to change the dates but we had to pay for the night stay in Genting, the earlier coach tix & the price difference for the changed dates as it was the peak season. In the end, our Genting trip costs us a bomb & the lesson is to check everything thoroughly!!  =|

23rd Oct 2008

The very long awaited day has finally arrived!!! Today I was held up at work till close to 9pm. Jaz & Pipit have been waiting for me downstairs since 7.30pm. I quickly packed my things and rushed off. They sent me home as I have yet to pack my things, while they went off to Faizah’s place. The three of them came over while I was halway packing. We then left at about 9.45pm to Lavender MRT to confirm our tickets & our seat numbers while Jaz and Pipit went to meet a friend to pass over his car during our absence. So after all the hectic tasks, we finally boarded the bus.. The bus moved off at 10.30pm sharp. It was our first time on the Premium Double Deck Coach & I was amazed at how enjoyable it was.. The only downside of it was that the middle arm rest is fixed so I wasn’t able to lie down. On the way to there, I watched Anna & The King, starring Jodie Foster & Chow Yun Fatt along with other Asian stars like Chinese Bai Ling, Malaysian Deanna Yusoff & Singaporeans Kay Siu Lim & Lim Yu Beng. It was a very beautiful story seriously… About King Mongkut, Chulalongkorn… Yes! I was a History student.. That’s why I love this show! Haha! The movie didn’t appeal to me initially but I was kinda left with no choice but to watch this show & I ended up loving it. Plus, I love the song by Joy Enriquez. After the show ended, I took a short nap.

The Stranded Bus...
The Stranded Bus… Blurry pic cos I was cold…

24th Oct 2008

Shortly later, our bus had some trouble. We ended up stranded in the middle of the hill, halfway up the slope right after the police post. It was 6am! The four of us got down from the bus and took in some cold, fresh & crisp morning air while the 2 bus drivers and the bus attendant fix the bus. Half an hour later, the coach managed to move again. I was relieved.. This was my second time going by coach and I experienced problems both time! The other times we drove up by car. The first coach wasn’t Transtar though.. Couldn’t remember which one. So anyway upon reaching there, we checked ourselves in at First World Hotel, put our bags and immediately went straight down, just Jaz & me. 9 hours later, we went up the room to get some sleep..

Dinner @ Kenny Rogers
Dinner @ Kenny Rogers

5 hours later, the four of us went down together to have our dinner at Kenny Rogers. We ordered Quarter Chicken Black Pepper. It has 3 side dishes and a muffin. I got myself the macaroni cheese, whipped potato & I couldn’t remember what. Oh! We also ordered mushroom soup for ourselves. Overall, I don’t like the food… won’t go there again. I only like the soup. The rest, hmm… nope! I am not a chicken fan to begin with anyway.. =D After that, we headed for some Zorro till early morning.

25th Oct 2008

Had breakfast before going up to our room.. Our first time breakfast-ing. The amount of people there, OMG! It’s so jam-packed and there was queue everywhere even though there were many food stations. And there were seriously many tables but we still couldn’t find a decent table for ourselves. Putting all that aside, I would have to say that the breakfast spread is good.. They have a lot of varieties. From toast to cereals to nasi lemak & bihun.. You will be spoilt for choices. After a heavy breakfast, we went straight to sleep. Today we woke up earlier at about 4pm. We had our dinner at Hou Mei. I had Asam Laksa.

Well, it’s ok but not superb. They used Sardines! No idea y… I still like the one at KL’s BB Chicken. =( After that, we went out for some photo-takings and walked around the mall for a lil’ bit. After that we both parted ways. They went to do some shopping while Jaz & I hunted down some Ashantis & Zorros. Went back earlier today cos we were planning to go to the theme park the next day.

26th Oct 2008

Jaz & I couldn’t get ourselves up in the morning. So we went out quite late.. around 3pm after watching Wonderpets. I took a peek at the window and the weather didn’t look too good today. The cashier even warned us about the weather & that the rides will cease operations if it rains. Plus, there will not be any refunds for the tickets. After much thought, we still went ahead with it, hoping that the weather will change soon. We got ourselves tagged for the indoor & outdoor passes.  It cost us RM53 each.

Our first ride of the day, Corkscrew!!! We managed to get the front seats. Faizah & I hopped on to the front while the guys sat behind us. It was a fun but not a scary ride. Too bad the ride’s camera was not in operation that day. Otherwise, we would have bought a photo of ourselves during the ride.

After that, we joined the long queue for the Space Shot! It was the most popular ride, hands down! The best ride of all. It is the vertical ride whereby you’ll be ascending as high as 14-15 storeys & then descent down fast. (Not recommended for the faint-hearted!!)

Finally, it was our turn.. Jaz & I challenged them to shout while dropping towards the ground earlier but they couldn’t do it. Haha! Oh my god… The feeling when you’re already halfway up and still ascending was sucky and when you come to a stop at the top, the sense of regret will kick in. You’ll be like “What the hell am I doing up here??!!” or “I don’t want to do this ever again!”. But after the ride, you’ll get this sense of achievement cos you got this unbelievable feeling of thrill.

After that, we lay low for awhile. Went for toilet breaks & some snackings. Then we opted to walk around at the Dinosaur Land. It’s a nice place for picture-taking. If you don’t feel like walking, there’s a very slow boat ride that you can hop on.

Then we proceeded to Space Lab cos the last time Jaz & I were there, it was not in operation yet. Do not take this ride!!! It’s pure crap & it’ll make you dizzy.Seriously, it was a waste of time.. After that, we took Corkscrew again. The queue wasn’t as long as before as it had stopped earlier for an hour for some maintenance check. This time around, we sat the 2nd cart. Wasn’t as fun… I managed to raise my hands this time round even though the space was limited.. Haha! After the painful ride, we put ourselves in that same bloody position again. Yes! The Space Shot! LOL! The queue was way shorter than the previous one this time around. It was our first time taking it night time.. Gosh, that butterfly in the stomach feeling again.. Damn!! It’s like no matter how hard u try calming yourself down for this ride, you can never be prepared for what you are about to get. Again, both of them couldn’t shout. Haha! Jaz was crazy… He let his hands go all the way. I can never do that because of my small build. I think I would have just flew out of the seat if I were to let go of my hands.

After that Faizah & Pipit wanted to take a ride at The Spinner. Jaz & I sat out this one cause we don’t want to get dizzy after. Feeling satisfied, we exited the theme park to proceed indoor. I had to drag the rest of them to take Euro Express with me.. It wasn’t that great cos it was more for kids but I just wanted to take a ride on it. We had to wait for quite some time cos the roller coaster was stuck in the middle of the track. After that  I dragged them again to take the Rio Float.. Another kid’s ride.. LOL! We actually wanted to take the Adult Bumper Car ride but it was full of kids and the speed was so not for an adult. We skipped that one & proceeded to 4D Motion Master. The queue was quite long but it was entertaining as there were some IQ quizzes along the way. At the entrance, we were handed a special kind of glasses that made 3D viewing possible. The Ali Baba ride was a short one. Not that great to me…

Here’s a sneak Preview :

Finally, I tried to get them to ride the Venice Gondola but they refused to give in. So we had to skip that one too… Then it was time for our late dinner at Marrybrown. The food there is way better than Kenny Rogers. Love the Mambo Fries & Fish Nuggets. The Chilli Sauce is superb too.. Spicy, i like! After that we took some more pictures outside the hotel & went straight to sleep after.

27th Oct 2008

We went for breakfast today. Again, packed but not as much as the other day. After that, we went back to sleep again… We woke up late afternoon & hang out in our room for awhile. The four of us watched Wonderpets again today. It was comical but cute! About how a hamster, a tortoise and a bird working together and travelling around to save other animals. We had a good laugh watching it. We managed to take the Flying Coaster ride, which was not included in the pass yesterday & you’ll have to pay RM12 each separately.. I WONDER WHY!!

Not a scary ride also… We then had our dinner at Pizza Hut. Oh well, the food wasn’t great… The mushroom soup which consists of micro diced  mushrooms is so bland. I will not eat there again.. After that, we separated again. They went for some shopping & a movie while Jaz & I tried to give Zorro another chance.

28th Oct 2008

We went back at about 9am today. We couldn’t be bothered with the breakfast. Neither did Faizah & Pipit who were fast asleep. I was surprised that I wasn’t very cranky today after having only 3 hours of sleep. We quickly showered & packed our stuffs for our departure. We managed to packed some Marrybrowns & Nasi Lemak before we proceeded to the bus terminal. After getting our seat numbers, we found a spot along the walkway & ate our lunch. We boarded the coach close to 2.30pm and we moved off shortly. Seriously, I cannot believe my luck when the coach suddenly came to a stop halfway down the hill. I was like, “Oh no!! Not again!!!”. Luckily it wasn’t long before the coach was able to start the engine again and then we’re on our way again. An hour later, we were dropped at a shop where you can buy crackers, preservatives, etc.. Half an hour later, we were on our way home. I couldn’t sleep!! The choices of movies were awesome.. I watched Shrek 2, Fantastic Four & The Eye 2. We arrived Singapore at about 10pm and headed straight for supper. Funny thing happened when I was home. I practically slept while texting on my phone!! My hand was still up holding the phone, with my eyes close and I was sitting on my bed! Didn’t realise it till my mom woke me up & said I was ridiculous… LOL! I find it ridiculous myself… ;P

Oh well, the trip was fun and tiring. PLUS, another enjoyable day at work tomorrow.
